Tom is twenty years old, wise beyond his years, an emancipated minor at age thirteen; Tom knows what it’s like to have too much control, only to lose control. Self-destructing on the streets of Minneapolis, he’s poised for escape. A two week adventure, canoeing the Boundary Waters between Minnesota and Canada, is all that he lives for. At the last minute his so-called friend and traveling companion backs out, so Tom does the unimaginable for a co-dependant city boy; he goes alone.

A Benevolent Wilderness is an adventure quest, where a troubled young man accidentally discovers himself amongst the placid waters and granite landscapes of the Boundary Waters  wilderness. He confronts the demons that command his life, and strikes out against insurmountable odds to change his future and amend his past.
